Smelting and casting run on enormous energy inputs, and since January 2026 aluminium exporters to the EU report and pay for embedded carbon under CBAM. Sustainability claims are now audited, and ambient evidence around the plant is part of a credible story.

A perimeter network measuring PM, SO₂ and NO₂ quantifies the plant’s local contribution continuously, documents the effect of electrification and efficiency investments, and gives community relations something better than assurances.
