There is no single fixed standard for indicative air-quality monitoring, so our credibility rests on method, not marketing. This is how Airqoon data is produced, calibrated and validated.
The Hybrid Network paradigm
Reference stations are precise but sparse; indicative sensors are granular but need anchoring. A hybrid network combines both: reference-grade precision where it exists, hyperlocal coverage everywhere else, with each tier keeping the other honest.
Collocate
Sensor units are deployed side-by-side with official reference stations before and during network operation, building a per-unit performance record under real local conditions.
Calibrate
Calibration models correct for temperature, humidity and cross-sensitivity effects, developed and refined together with our university partners.
Monitor drift
Continuous QA/QC in Lens tracks sensor health and data plausibility across the fleet, flagging drift and anomalies before they reach a report.
We don't hand over a box and leave
Sensor accuracy is not a one-time property; it is maintained. Every network we deploy stays in a continuous quality loop, and we intervene whenever the data says so, not on a fixed maintenance calendar.
Deploy. Installed in minutes, solar-powered. Every unit ships factory-calibrated with a traceable certificate.
Watch. Drift, out-of-range, frozen or disconnected signals are flagged automatically in Lens, with a full audit trail.
Collocate. Units run side-by-side with an official reference station under your local conditions.
Intervene. Whenever needed, not on a schedule. Fixes ship over-the-air; the field-replaceable sensor box swaps on-site without unmounting.
Calibrate. A validated base model plus site-specific field calibration, correcting temperature, humidity and cross-sensitivity.
Recalibrate. Alerts trigger a fresh collocation or model update, with accuracy restored and documented for the network's whole life.
The fleet's own QA/QC decides when we act: an anomaly today gets attention today.

Certificates and methodologies
Certifications are held and auditable. For sensor performance we follow the CEN/TS 17660 and US EPA evaluation methodologies; no certification scheme exists against them, and we don't claim one.
Research partnerships, not endorsements
Our calibration methods and network designs are developed through active research projects with universities and TÜBİTAK, the same institutions that independently evaluate the results.






Co-located in-house and independently
Unit L systems are co-located with regulatory reference stations continuously as part of our own QA/QC, and periodically for independent evaluation studies, with the statistical analysis carried out according to the CEN/TS 17660-1:2021 and -2:2024 methodology.
